The First Day of Spring in Iqaluit

It's -32 with a wind chill of -48 and Tracy has left for Kimirut, so I'm all alone in Iqaluit. Yup, it's just me and the great white north... waiting for a plane to take me to Cape Dorset later this afternoon.

I have been fighting off a cold, and have lost my voice, which is going to be really hard when I finally get to meet all the folks in Cape Dorset. I'm taking it easy this morning in my hotel room, but I have to check out at noon, so I think I'll head out into the wild yonder to try and kill off the cold germs. Sean says the cold kills everything... it can't hurt!

I am going to try and visit the legislative buildings today. They were closed yesterday, but they should be open now. I may not get to post any more blogs for a bit, since I'm not sure if I have much internet where I'm going (one of the many questions I guess I _should_ have asked!) but I wanted to post one last blog with a "shout out" to Nick.

Nick- thank you for everything! You organized this trip so incredibly well and prepared us for every last little detail. Tracy and I were saying last night at dinner how the little pieces of advice you gave us all came into play as we walked around the town exploring. We all wanted to thank you for the hard work you've put into this and let you know we're thinking about you... we hope you're doing well!

  1. 1) Warm thoughts your way to help you feel better.

    2) You're not alone. Even with dodgy internet, we'll be right there thinking of you.

    3) Have a blast!

  2. Wow, the landscape is amazing! All that blue and white. Astonishing. (Get the Thai Caribou Salad on the way back, I'm SO curious!)
